JUNE 2007:
For a long time, Fr. Davis of St. Therese Church, Succasunna, the sister Parish to St. Cecilia Kituiuni and Simon of KUSARD had been talking and envisioning a visit by Bishop Martin of Machakos Diocese Kenya as a guest of the community of St. Therese and the Diocese of Paterson. The essence of the visit was to thank the community of St Therese for the wonderful work it had been doing supporting his Diocese through the St. Cecilia children's food program and to strengthen the sisterhood of St. Therese, Succasunna and St. Cecilia, Kituiuni, which continues to grow and flourish.
In addition he would also visit some other communities in New Jersey through the auspices of his host Fr. Davis. But first he would meet his fellow shepherd, Bishop Serratelli of the Diocese of Paterson who had arleady been acquinted with the the bishop's itinerary and had given his blessings. Everything about the trip went according to plan and in the end, the Bishop's visit turned to be one of the most fascinating and endearing experiences ever.
